Introduction of Secret Network project
Mary | Satoshi Club: Hello, Satoshi Club! We are happy to announce our AMA session with Secret Network! Welcome to Satoshi Club
D| Satoshi Club: hello Satoshi club!
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: Hello I’m ready to go!
D| Satoshi Club: nice!
Mary | Satoshi Club: Hello! It’s a pleasure to have you here! Let’s go!
Could you please introduce yourself and tell us more about Secret Network and its secrets?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: Of course
My name is Tor Bair – I am the Founder of Secret Foundation, one of the core contributors to Secret Network. Our project is open-source, based on the work of Enigma and its CEO Guy Zyskind. Enigma is also a core contributor to Secret Network.
Secret Network is the first and only blockchain with privacy-preserving smart contracts. That means smart contracts deployed on our network can use encrypted inputs and outputs, and they have an encrypted state.
This is incredibly important to the adoption of blockchains. EVERY blockchain is bad at privacy by design. ALL data is public on the blockchain. Only with Secret Network are we finally able to build applications that protect data and stay secure. This makes a big difference for DeFi, NFTs, gaming, access control, Web3, machine learning…
We’ve been building the project since 2015. It’s based on some of the most highly-cited whitepapers in crypto. The initial Enigma whitepapers have over 1,500 academic citations. “Decentralizing Privacy” (one of the whitepapers) is the 5th most cited paper in the blockchain space overall!
Mary | Satoshi Club: Yes, we really need more privacy
Why did you call your project Secret network? What were your name and logo inspired by?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: That is a great question!
A secret is something that you don’t want to share with everyone, but still want to share with people you choose to trust. A secret is something that you want to keep protected – not because it’s something bad, but because it’s something valuable. We called the network “Secret” because it allows developers and users to protect valuable data while still enabling them to share and compute it when, how, and with whomever they choose. Secret Network is where these important concepts of privacy, freedom, and consent coincide.
The Secret S evokes a flowing network and the duality of secrets: privacy and transparency.
The ends of the S are open, allowing data to freely flow in and out. The interior of the S is private, an enclave that encloses the activity of the network itself.
The overall shape of the S is reminiscent of a yin-yang, again reflecting the duality of a privacy-preserving network — a deeply humanist technology.
We write a little bit about our branding and logo here 🙂 https://scrt.network/brand/
D| Satoshi Club: Cool! you even have a book there!
Mary | Satoshi Club: It’s perfect.
How old is the Secret Network project?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: The project started with the Enigma whitepapers in 2015. We were all at MIT then. But research and development took a number of years. Secret Network actually only launched on mainnet this February!
So we are one of the oldest projects, but we are also one of the most complex projects, which is why it took a little time to launch.
Mary | Satoshi Club: Wow, long story!
Yes, you didn’t hurry. But it shows that you really wanted to bring a good product to the market.
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: Indeed, when you’re a privacy-focused project, security and a good product is everything!
Mary | Satoshi Club: Sure! Privacy projects are my passion, so I was really waiting for you to come here!
D| Satoshi Club: That’s right! thank you for the great intro! and now are you ready for the questions from our community?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: I am ready and excited! I really believe the Secret Network will be one of the top 10 projects in the space. Our technology is critical for its growth😀
Preselected questions about the Unique. One project.
Q1 from Telegram user @bitcoinistic
You first implemented the private smart contract feature. Privacy is great and it’s interesting. But don’t you think that nowadays is important to have it public? Especially for nowadays DeFi projects, in order to avoid features in the smart contracts which will enable them to withdraw the funds. If it’s public then everyone can check it
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: Great question!
The code of the smart contracts is public, so they can be audited. I agree this is important for being able to trust the contract does what it is supposed to do.
Only the data is encrypted – that means you can have an application where you know it will do what it is supposed to, you know it will be permissionless, but the *data* is still protected.
That is the best way to protect users – public code, private data.
Mary | Satoshi Club: But you know, that even codes, which were audited by famous companies sometimes fail
Does it mean that funds will disappear?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: That’s true – and unfortunately every project has to deal with this.
The bigger problem in DeFi is actually that with public data, regular users lose to miners and large whales.
Frontrunning is a massive problem.
D| Satoshi Club: zAll data is encrypted by default? or people can choose what to share with the public and what to keep secret?
Mary | Satoshi Club: Yes, it’s honest) on the other side – even if we can see the acc with stolen funds we still can’t do anything with this.
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: All data is encrypted by default, but you can create viewing keys for contracts.
It is very, very hard and very, very expensive to make something private that has been public.
But it is very easy to make something public that has been private.
D| Satoshi Club: Yes, it’s true.
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: That is the essence of cryptography. And it is one of the biggest secrets to Secret Network 🙂
Mary | Satoshi Club: Golden words.
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: Private by default, public when required = we can build solutions no one else can.
Q2 from Telegram user @bitociok
I understand why you need private smart contracts. This is especially for private organizations or institutions which don’t want everything shared. My question is: is it possible to make your smart contacts half private? I mean can some parts of it left deliberately public and some which are sensitive to leave private?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: Expanding on my answer above…
The code is public, data is private. But you can certainly have some pieces of your application public, and some pieces private. That is our concept of “programmable privacy.”
We explained the concept here: https://scrt.network/blog/programmable-privacy/
Many people think of transactional privacy when they think of “privacy coins.” Like Monero, Zcash.
So sending something to someone and no one can see it
That’s privacy, but it’s not really the kind of privacy I care about.
I made a little image actually that could help explain😀
So yes, you could combine a few different “secret contracts” in your application and yes, you can keep some parts private and some parts public/auditable.
And also Secret Network is built to be interoperable with other blockchains! So you could have a piece of your application run on Ethereum, and a piece run on Secret.
Mary | Satoshi Club: Which blockchains is it interoperable now?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: We just announced the launch of our Ethereum bridge!
https://scrt.network/blog/secret-ethereum-bridge-is-live-on-mainnet/
But we are building bridges to other ecosystems…those are currently Secret 🤫
Mary | Satoshi Club: For now Ethereum, right! And congrats on the successful launch!
We need a secret hint
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: I think we will have to wait and see 😀
But you should be seeing some more in January…
Mary | Satoshi Club: Btw, if I, for example, will win your quiz today and receive rewards for it – what will be visible on the blockchain?
What info?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: Oh, that’s a fun question!
So SCRT itself is NOT a privacy coin! This can cause confusion 🙂
If you send SCRT to someone, you can see it on the blockchain just like with Ethereum!
You can see it here on our block explorer: https://puzzle.report/secret/chains/secret-2/transactions/
BUT! The tokens deployed on Secret Network ARE privacy tokens.
Any token built on Secret Network is programmable like an ERC-20, but private like a Monero.
Mary | Satoshi Club: Can I hide something when I am sending my funds on your network?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: There is a way to have private transactions for SCRT, actually.
Mary | Satoshi Club: Or it’s just for applications?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: https://scrt.network/blog/secret-scrt-privacy-tokens-mainnet/
We created a privacy token version of SCRT that runs on Secret Network
So that way, if you want to send SCRT to someone, all you need to do is first turn it into secretSCRT – then send the secretSCRT.
And it will be with privacy.
D| Satoshi Club: very interesting concept! I have been waiting a long time for something like this, platform where people be able to make privacy tokens
Mary | Satoshi Club: I can hide the amount?) Or, for example, make the number of tokens that I hold on my wallet not visible?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: If you turn your SCRT into secretSCRT, no one can see how much you hold or who you send it to.
And you can turn it back into SCRT at any time.
We actually made a whole guide on how to do it! https://scrt.network/blog/secret-scrt-keplr/
(By the way, this is all on main-net.)
We are excited to be the first 😀 You can create your own now with a command-line, but we’re building a tool to make it much, much easier.
Mary | Satoshi Club: Thank you, perfect work! That is what I like:grinning:
I want to make my 100$ invisible
Thank you for your clarifications! Ready to go to the next question?)
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]
Yep!
Q3 from Telegram user @prahenkris
I’ve read about your secret Ethereum bridge and one thing is not very clear to me. Does your project transform a public erc20 asset into a private/ secret one or does it create a clone of the same asset which is private/ secret? If it’s the second option, then it means that the original erc20 asset will still be public?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: Great question again! I can clarify this.
To use the bridge, you send your ETH or ERC-20 to a smart contract on Ethereum.
Then a “secret token” version is automatically minted on Secret Network. While this token exists, your original ERC-20 or ETH is locked in the smart contract on Ethereum.
You can do anything you want with the Secret Token! You can send it privately, you can sell it, you can use it in applications.
And everything you do is privacy-preserving.
But when you want to go back across the bridge, you can burn your secret token. When you do, you get to choose the Ethereum address to which the corresponding ETH or ERC-20 should go to.
So 1 secretETH always = 1 ETH, because you can always burn it to get 1 ETH.
D| Satoshi Club: very clear explanation!
Mary | Satoshi Club: Oh, got it) what about gas fees? Are they standard?)
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: On Secret Network gas is very reasonable 🙂
SCRT is used to pay gas on Secret Network just like ETH is used on Ethereum.
So you can do anything you want with Secret Tokens, but you need a little SCRT to pay for gas.
And yes, if you do something on Ethereum (lock your tokens or release them) that will cost some ETH.
ETH fees, of course, are not in our control
By the way, I should mention one other nice thing about the bridge…
Mary | Satoshi Club: Yes, but when I will mint my 1ETH to secret ETH how much this will cost?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: We will be having bridge mining, meaning you can get SCRT rewards just for locking your tokens on the bridge!
Mary | Satoshi Club: Do you take any fee for this?
You will? In the nearest time?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: Developers don’t take a fee, but the network takes a fee because you are interacting with smart contracts.
Launching in January 😀
The bridge is already live, and we already have people using it! But when the rewards go live, it could be very exciting…
Mary | Satoshi Club: That’s good news! Waiting for this.
For sure!
D| Satoshi Club: Lots of big news in January.
Mary | Satoshi Club: And they are close
D| Satoshi Club: Yep! thank you for the answers! ready for the next question?
Mary | Satoshi Club: Alright, are we ready for the next question?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: Indeed
These are great questions!
Q4 from Telegram user @maxzerone
In terms of business, how do you see yourselves? Do you plan to give to big companies your technology to build private smart contacts? Or do you plan to bring a different type of revenue?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: That’s an interesting question.
So Secret Network is a very decentralized ecosystem, like Bitcoin or Ethereum. We think many, many companies can be built to serve Secret Network!
You can run a node, you can deploy an application, you can use applications…
Enterprises could use Secret Network to run computations or to deploy their own applications
We’re not like other projects where there is one centralized development team that does everything and they pretend to have a community.
We actually have thousands of contributors all over the world 😀
But for example, Enigma could run a node on Secret Network, and contribute to protocol code, and build applications, and have a side business helping onboard enterprises to Secret Network!
Or you could start your own company that does any of these things 🙂
Mary | Satoshi Club: Are you open-sourced?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: Yes, the protocol is open source.
https://github.com/enigmampc/secretnetwork/
Mary | Satoshi Club: And your team? How is it organized?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: Well, again, there are many teams😀
Enigma is one development team. I run Secret Foundation, which is another. There is also Secrets LLC, Chain of Secrets, Secure Secrets, Stake or Die…
Mary | Satoshi Club: So, do you have something like the core team?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: I would say Enigma is the closest to the core team since they contribute a lot at the protocol level.
Mary | Satoshi Club: That’s what I am asking for👍
Got it to thank you😀
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: It is very helpful to think of us as a privacy-preserving Ethereum 👍 our ecosystems have a lot in common.
We’re not a typical project. But that is why we believe we have so much to grow!
Mary | Satoshi Club: Would you cooperate with the FBI?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: Would I personally? If I could!
We’re not here to disrupt governments; we’re here to empower users and give them options and control.
Mary | Satoshi Club: If they ask for some data from Secret Network?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: I don’t have the power to give the FBI data that I don’t have…
Or that I can’t access
That’s the thing about decentralization.
Mary | Satoshi Club: Got it, thank you
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]
😀
Mary | Satoshi Club: Yes, and it’s a beauty.
D| Satoshi Club: Don’t you afraid that because you are working on privacy technologies you might have some issues with the government of some countries? they can try somehow forbid your project or something like that
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: I think every cryptocurrency project has this concern or this fear. I still build things I believe the world needs.
The good news is we are trying hard to decentralize the pieces of our project that we can 🙂
Mary | Satoshi Club: Here we are telling: eyes are afraid, but hands doing)
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: Interesting expression!
Mary | Satoshi Club: And thank you for what are you doing!
Ready for the next question?
D| Satoshi Club: Yes! thank you!
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: Yep!
D| Satoshi Club:
Q5 from Telegram user @kafeinen
Why don’t you make a clear tokenomics section on your website? Information about tokens is spread among multiple articles and it’s hard to follow.
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: Excellent question. We are trying to fix this ASAP 🙂 you should expect to see this added before the end of the month.
Today we announced we are joining the Messari registry in order to help solve this problem!
https://messari.io/article/secret-network-joins-the-messari-registry/
Mary | Satoshi Club: Shame on me, but I never heard about this registry
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: Oh, it’s a very popular one amongst investors and funds.
It’s good for reporting transparently!
Yes, we are a privacy project, but not because we want to hide things about it😀
Mary | Satoshi Club: Thank you, I would follow them.
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: So yes, we will have more detailed information on tokenomics soon. There are some basic things to understand first, including staking!
You can stake your SCRT for 20-30% ROI. It’s very attractive😀
D| Satoshi Club: It would be something, a privacy project with privacy tokenomics.
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: I will continue to do AMAs until people understand the Secret is out!😀
Mary | Satoshi Club: Where and how can I stake?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: I don’t know that people would trust this 🙂
Great question! We built a full guide, including video walkthroughs. https://scrt.network/blog/staking-secrets-guide-to-staking-delegating-scrt/
Mary | Satoshi Club: Is staking available on Binance, for example? Not on exchanges, not yet.
Mary | Satoshi Club: That’s the main point thank you.
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: You can stake from Ledger, from a web wallet, from a desktop wallet, from a mobile wallet…
But not yet on exchanges. We like when people stake their coins and decentralize the network.
Mary | Satoshi Club: Super maximally easy. It has sense
And are you ready for the 6th and last question from this part?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: Yep
Q6 from Telegram user @halvving
What are the advantages of being a secret agent? I mean what is the difference between an enthusiastic community member and a secret agent?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: Another excellent question! I’m glad you did your research.
I would be very, very happy if many of you became Secret Agents.
Mary | Satoshi Club: I am already thinking about this.
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: Right now we’re thinking through all the ways the Secret Foundation can help support our core community. We actually already have a number of community committees that meet every week.
These include Awareness, Education, Development, Website, Design, Infrastructure, Governance…
Secret Agents can serve on these committees, lead committees, make proposals for funding…
We are trying to have hundreds of Secret Agents all over the world who are passionate about privacy and help us spread the word about our network and our solutions.
A few of them are featured on our website! https://scrt.network/community/
But in 2021, I’m trying to make things even more attractive for Secret Agents. That means special swag (like hats and shirts), special bonuses, special missions…
Secret Agents already have access to some “secret” channels in our chats that only they can see
Mary | Satoshi Club: What I need to do to become Secret Agent?)
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: I also want to give away badges to Secret Agents for completing missions! Badges could be “Secret Tokens” themselves
Mary | Satoshi Club: Do you already have Agent no 007?)
D| Satoshi Club: Or Agent Smith?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: Actually… https://twitter.com/scrtagent_007/
You might be too late, sorry.
Try 008?😂
If you want to become a Secret Agent, you can fill out this form! https://airtable.com/shr6FPA7SW6p2gDTY/
Mary | Satoshi Club: Oh hope Agent Mary is free)
Ok, thank you for your clarifications, I think you will have more agents today
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: There is room for Agent Mary 🙂
Anyone who becomes an Agent today – I will personally help you get on board!
Mary | Satoshi Club: Reserved
I am really ready to fill the form))) And are you ready for the live part?)
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]: I think I’m ready… 😀
PART 2.Questions about the Secret Network project from the live chat of the telegram community.
In this part, we open a chat for the crypto community for 100 seconds. Then the guests from the Secret Network project choose the top 15 questions. The 15 crypto enthusiasts have earned cryptocurrency in the sum of 100$.
Q – 1 from a telegram user @JoxesXIII
Do you think that the secret network can be beneficial for game-based DApps like the MMORPG style where it is important that each account has its inventory (you know, items, objects) in a private environment? I mean, how about this game using privacy?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]:
Yes, decentralized gaming is a huge use case I’m excited about!
Imagine having individual game items as “secret tokens” so no one can see who holds the rarest types.
The most basic example of a game you can build on Secret Network is rock paper scissors.
You can have two players submit their move encrypted to the network, and a winner will automatically be chosen without revealing your move directly to your opponent (and you can’t be front-run by a miner!). It sounds easy, but on regular blockchains, it’s actually quite hard to do this in a decentralized manner.
You can also build private loot boxes on Secret Network, as we have randomness capabilities! So I would love to see more of these types of applications built. Games are super cool, and we can have Secret ones!
Q – 2 from a telegram user @AmitGoyal1444
If you had a time machine, would you travel to the future or back to the past? If the future then where will you want to see your smart network?? If past then which things will you want to improve?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]:
If Secret Network could have existed at the time when DeFi was originally growing on Ethereum, that would be great. I am concerned that we’ve let DeFi grow without giving enough thought to security.
So I’d like to travel back at least a couple of years to make sure we could build secure DeFi right from the beginning 😀
But this type of technology would be super useful for all manners of applications past and future.
Let’s imagine we travel into the future
What Secret Network allows is for many many types of people all to share their own private data with the network, and only the network – not with each other.
Even the nodes themselves can’t see the unencrypted data. I imagine a future where healthcare providers can perform computations over many many pieces of encrypted individual healthcare data, in order to research new treatments.
While it stays secure😀
In my dreams, Secret Network enables the world to learn better from *everyone*, because everyone feels secure to share their data for the greater good.
And in turn, everyone benefits more from that – and maybe they even get paid to do it.
.Q – 3 from a telegram user @Capt_Star1
NFTs have been predicted to be the future of DeFi, do you have plans to include NFTs in the future?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]:
We actually wrote a whole blog! https://scrt.network/blog/secret-nfts
Secret NFTs are actually a very, very important concept.
You can issue an NFT that represents access to some sort of good or service, or ownership, or an experience.
There are many, many reasons for wanting to have privacy for this.
So yes, we are currently developing NFT standards for Secret. There are already secret tokens, as I mentioned. These are like the ERC-20 standard (we call them SNIP-20s).
So now we need a standard that’s like an ERC-721 (NFT)
Q – 4 from a telegram user @Chinthaka93
You have mentioned that “up to 2 million SCRT are expected to be available to support bridge mining and the launch of Secret DeFi”. What is the meaning of this and how can we participate in bridge mining and what are the rewards for joining this?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]:
So I started to talk about bridge mining… 🙂
https://scrt.network/blog/secret-ethereum-bridge-is-live-on-mainnet
If you are interested, you can take ERC-20s and ETH you already hold, deposit them on our Ethereum bridge, and become eligible for bridge mining rewards! Over time we will be distributing SCRT to people who provide the initial liquidity on the bridge.
This is expected to start in January, but you can already be testing out the bridge so you can be one of the first. But! There’s more! We are ALSO launching an AMM on Secret 😲
https://scrt.network/blog/secret-markets-front-running-prevention/
We will also have rewards available for people who become users of the AMM! This will be like a privacy-preserving, front-running resistant Uniswap… one of a kind.
So between bridge mining and AMM rewards and other incentives, we think the launch of Secret DeFi will go really well😀
Q – 5 from a telegram user @frankvic
Partnerships and alliances are very important for any emerging project. What important partners have you got so far? What are the plans to make yourself known to more users? Does your community play an important role in the development and expansion of the project?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]:
Yes, they are. I wouldn’t say we are “emerging” since we’ve been around a very long time… but partners are critical 😀
We’re focusing on working with deeply experienced technical teams from around the blockchain space as we develop initial applications for Secret Network.
We’re also trying to add support for as many projects on the Ethereum Bridge and other bridges as we can. Currently we support: $ETH, $YFI, $UNI, $BAND, $COMP, $LINK, $AAVE, $KNC, $SNX, $OCEAN, $MKR, $DAI, $USDT, $TUSD, and $WBTC.
We are only focused on technical collaborations for the most part. I don’t like “pump partnerships.” We recently announced a collaboration with Ocean Protocol that is highly technical – and exciting! https://blog.oceanprotocol.com/ocean-and-secret-collaborating-on-access-control-and-private-compute-for-datatokens-1427acd1fcbe
Also, because we’re a decentralized ecosystem, we actually have the ability to make many more partnerships than others 🙂 For example, Enigma is currently working with a number of companies.
https://www.ibm.com/cloud/blog/enigma-and-ibm-cloud-are-protecting-human-lives-as-well-as-data-privacy
https://blog.enigma.co/announcing-enigmas-collaboration-with-intel-43bbf73a86a7
Q – 6 from a telegram user @BJosefina61
Recently different CEXs have refused to incorporate privacy-based protocols due to regulations. What are the Secret Network Team’s expectations regarding future listings and incorporation in the more formal and institutional sector?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]:
This goes back to my earlier answer – is Secret a privacy coin?
And we aren’t. So I don’t expect the same difficulties as a project like Monero, or Zcash, or something like that. I don’t think that you will necessarily see “Secret Tokens” listed on centralized exchanges. But that’s fine – we will have our own AMMs on Secret Network where you can trade them. SCRT itself though – my goal is to make sure it is universally accessible to everyone. And actually, institutions have a lot of demand for our solutions! Institutions care a lot about privacy 🙂 For them, we’re building some interesting things as well…
https://scrt.network/blog/secret-auctions-decentralized-otc-dark-pools
Q – 7 from a telegram user @konditer_rolex
At the time of this AMA, the first OTC auction using a Secret smart contract should already be completed. Tell us how it went. Now each of us can create an auction for exchange between different networks using a secret bridge? Share with us your impressions and, of course, instructions on how to create an OTC auction?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]:
Since I shared that link, I may as well answer this question 😀.
It’s really exciting for us to share this. You can actually list a Secret Token for sale and request bids for it!
So I could list my secretETH for sale, and ask for bids in secretUSDT or secretDAI.
It’s good for large trades – and the bids are private! We’re working hard right now to create a UI (graphic interface) for people to create their own auctions, for any Secret Tokens. Right now you need to have a little technical experience. But I think it’s exciting 😀As we build more bridges, we will support more assets!
Q – 8 from a telegram @Mbegu2
Most of the Crypto projects are built solely for the purpose of accumulating wealth for themselves. So, I would like to know the value you would like to add to the crypto industry that will bring greater abundance to the industry?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]:
Interesting question. And a great point. Many projects are built to make the builders wealthy. Not to create more value. I believe that privacy solutions will unlock the next phase of growth for decentralized finance. These solutions will be required if we want to see billions and trillions of new money enter the DeFi space, beyond just Bitcoin. Frontrunning resistant AMMs and privacy-preserving dark pools are just two ways we think Secret contributes to this growth. Dark pools are actually hugely important in the finance world and provide massive liquidity for stocks and other assets. And they’re also good for avoiding bots.
Q – 9 from a telegram user @Capt_Star1
What would you say is this project’s greatest strength?
Most projects don’t talk about their weaknesses. Are there any weaknesses you’re currently working to mitigate?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]:
Nice one! I think our biggest weakness right now is that we aren’t an ERC-20. It’s also our biggest strength – being an ERC-20 means you can only really serve Ethereum very well, and no one else. By being our own blockchain, we have so much more potential than if we were just a token. But it also means it’s harder for people to buy SCRT, or for people to learn about the project.
And you need a compatible wallet, and you need to look at a different block explorer… So there is some friction for people who are just finding out about our ecosystem. But I think it’s all worth it – because we are super, super cool😀how many more do I have haha.
Q -10 from a telegram user Berta
How many communities do you currently have active and what are your plans to increase your expansion in the world to teach other people who do not speak English about your project?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]:
So, here’s our current non-English communities:
Russian Telegram: @scrt_russia
Japan Telegram: @scrt_japan
German Telegram: @scrt_german
French Telegram: @scrt_french
Dutch Telegram: @scrt_dutch
We would love to support new Secret Agents who want to help establish other language communities.
Some important ones would be helping us grow our Chinese and Korean communities. Right now community managers are not paid – they are volunteers from our global community. Q -11 from a telegram user @Chinthaka93
I have bought some ENG in Binance and after the main net release that ENG was swapped to SCRT and now I am holding SCRT in Binance. But still, ENG is listed on CMC, and ENG is still traded on some exchanges according to CMC, Is this correct or a mistake? If yes why are you still keeping ENG even after releasing the SCRT main-net?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]:
For those of you who aren’t aware, there was a swap from an old coin (ENG) to SCRT that was built by the Secret Network community.

ENG is still trading on some exchanges, but no one is developing for ENG anymore. If you have ENG, you have until the end of the year to swap it for SCRT. This is very important! We aren’t “keeping” ENG, but we also can’t stop exchanges from keeping it listed… Everyone (including Enigma) is developing only for Secret Network. ENG does not have any utility.

Hello, Mr @thisistor To become an SCRT validator, highlight the main thing that I must take into account to fulfill the requirements?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]:
Anyone can run their own Secret Node on Secret Network – it’s permissionless!
However, only the fifty largest nodes (measured by stake) are considered to be “active” in the network at any given time.
You can see the list of active validators here: https://puzzle.report/secret/chains/secret-2/validators
If you want to run your own node, please read our documentation. There are some hardware requirements that you must know about.

What differentiates a delegator from a validator and what are its benefits?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]:

If you DON’T want to run your own node, that’s obviously not a problem 🙂 we have thousands of people delegating and staking!
So a delegator is staking their coins with someone else who runs the node. That person is a validator. Delegators get a share of the validator’s rewards for operating their node. I’ll repost the staking guide so you can get started with delegating – it helps us secure the network, and you get a nice ROI!

Q -14 from a telegram user @wonderkit
What has the Secret network team done to make this project full of innovation, inspiration, compared to what it was, in the beginning, to become what it is today?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]:
I would love to take credit as a development team, but it’s really the community 🙂 Our community committees are truly responsible for our growth and success. You should definitely join one if you want to be a part of Secret’s future 🙂
Q -15 from a telegram user @BlancaSdF
Privacy is not free: is SECRET NETWORK expensive to transact like Ethereum today?
Tor Bair 𝕊 [Secret / SCRT]:
Lastly – it is not expensive like Ethereum 🙂 We’re also helping to scale Ethereum by taking a lot of interactions off Ethereum, over our bridge, and into the Secret ecosystem!
I hope to see a lot of new applications built on our network in the coming months!!
