I am Siddhant Chowdhry handling marketing and community for GARI Network. It has been exciting journey in the crypto space. We saw crypto space something very exciting and thought of bringing our users of Chingari App to this space.
Chingari happened in 2020 around May-June. When TikTok was banned in India, our CEO Sumit Ghosh suddenly saw a huge surge in our user base. In Jan 2021, Sumit came across web3 and DAOs and clearly saw them as the future of social media and the internet in general. That’s when we started working on GARI.

Gari is a social token. Like I said when I saw web3, DAO’s and the concept of a community and creators owning the platform which they are creating. I think that is a very strong fundamental idea. The goal of gari is to give ownership, governance and a way of democratically uniformly earning back to creators. So imagine owning or being an early adopter of TikTok, or owning a stock or a stake in Facebook, how powerful is that.
The GARI Token introduces a gateway into the blockchain space, to Chingari App users. The goal is to empower both creators and viewers on the Chingari App with technological tools to interact directly with each other and allow all users on the Chingari App to participate in the long-term direction of the social economy impacting the GARI Token.

Focused on utilities of GARI
There will be no restriction in the app for tipping $GARI to the creators. Users can use the Gari tokens in their in-app Gari wallet to tip their favourite content creators directly from the video feed as well as from the Creator’s profile. These transactions are completely on-chain.
$Gari holders will be able to stake and earn yield as well as vote on proposals to decide the future direction of the platform. There will be certain number of tokens to be staked in order to participate in the governance based on the holders.
For the staking, there will be 7% APY earned.
These features will be soon integrated with Chingari App.

Definitely, we will be keeping a certain minimum amount for folks to stake $GARI. Let’s say I find a creator early in his journey and I stake my Gari tokens to him — these tokens go to a staking pool and the creator can take a loan from the stake pool and he can buy a better camera, better equipment, better clothes and become a better creator. One basically earns 7 percent of all of the revenue that this creator earns in future from the NFT and the creator economy flourishes. So if one of these videos goes viral and let’s say that NFT gets millions of dollars of trade in a month, the user will get 7 percent of that for staking him in his journey. Imagine you stake 10 creators and overall these 10 creators and they make 10 million dollars in the next one year you will get 7 percent of that. We are basically bringing staking to the next level on social media. We are calling it social staking. This is the first time that any social media company is still thinking about this feature and Chingari is the first one to implement it.

We would say that we are not competing with the Apps you mentioned. Chingari is the fastest-growing short-form video app. The app lets users make short-form videos, share them with their friends or fans, and earn at the same time.
Talking about the unique features, we plan to integrate Chingari Audio Rooms, GARI NFT Marketplace, Multiplex, and the GARI Token itself, in the upcoming updates.

Will features like Live Streams be completely disabled for non-staker users or will they have limited access? What other benefits does the staking system provide to users?

We’ll let the content creator to choose if their video is a premium one (for which they’d like only Gari stakers to have access) or if its a part the of essential feed (available to non-gari stakers as well). There would be a min. staking amount. This will encourage creators to create better content which in turn will create a better experience for users.

a. Allowing creators to connect with their followers and build a more engaged community
b. Chingari Audio rooms will have a lot of gamification and virtual gifting enabled
c. It will have monetization features for people who are spending time wherein they can convert the gifts received
