Hello, Satoshi clubbers! Another AMA took place in Satoshi Club and we would like to introduce to you the AMA session with our friends from Cere Network and our guest was @broersma. The AMA took place on 17 November.
The AMA session was divided into 3 parts with a total crypto reward pool of 500$
In this AMA Recap, we will try to summarise the most interesting points for you.
Part 1 — introduction and questions from the Telegram community
Martijn Broersma: Hello Satoshi friends! 👋
Mary | Satoshi Club: Hello Satoshi Club! We are happy to announce our AMA session with Cere Network! Welcome to Satoshi Club😀
Hello and welcome to Satoshi Club 👏
D. | Satoshi Club: hi! good to have you here! 😊
Martijn Broersma: Always a pleasure to be here 🙂
Mary | Satoshi Club: True😀
So, let’s start our AMA 🚀
Martijn, could you please introduce yourself and tell us more about Cere Network for those community members, who missed previous AMA with Cere😀
Martijn Broersma: Ofcourse!
I’ve had the pleasure of being with the Cere team for 15 months now. Coming from LTO Network as the COO where we went through the whole cycle of (legal) SaaS into the decentralized realm, setting up a network, launching a token and getting listed on Binance, this new challenge at Cere was just right for me given the same setup, but with a more consumer enterprise focussed approach. At Cere im involved with everything from marketing to bd to sales to listing ops.
Since last week’s listing we’ve entered a new phase which im super excited about!
And ofcourse happy to be here to answer your questions on the project today!
Mary | Satoshi Club: Cool! You’re multitasking person😀
Martijn Broersma: Yes, many mgmt members wear different hats to get the best cross department results
Mary | Satoshi Club: Could you tell for guys, who are not familiar with Cere Network about your project’s main goals😀
Mary | Satoshi Club: Ahaha, i am sure you will reach everything you need👍
Martijn Broersma: Our goal in 1 sentence: driving decentralized data adoption. What couldnt be done on traditional Layer 1’s (using them for data due to costs/speed/interoperability) is something we’re the first to deliver upon via our Decentralized Data Cloud.
The Cere Decentralized Data Cloud is the world’s first blockchain-based storage solution that is optimized for capturing user/app/(NFT) asset interactions which are individually signed and encrypted, along with potential value transfers, to be stored in a tamper-proof and time-capsuled data scheme.
Mary | Satoshi Club: We really need your services! 🔥
Martijn Broersma: Many companies/NFT projects do 😉
Mary | Satoshi Club: Actually, our first question is connected to this topic 😉
Thank you for your intro, Martijn! Ready to start with the questions from our community?
Martijn Broersma: Lets go!
Q1 from Telegram user @Highpee
The vision of Cere Network is to allow enterprise to start establishing their own data ecosystems and first-party data strategies. What type of enterprise can enroll for your Data Cloud service and what are the requirements for an enterprise to get onboarded onto your Data Architecture? What data integration service will you provide for users and enterprise associates? How will your protocol enhance effective data management and what data optimisation strategies will you offer that can provide enterprises with enhanced data insight, real-time predictive analysis and fluent data design in order to enhance efficiency and cost saving in business process?
Martijn Broersma: Thats a great question!
Ease of usage (and in this case data onboarding) should be as frictionless as possible. Cere Network facilitates plug-and-play customer onboarding to its Decentralized Data Cloud, leveraging identity abstraction technology to achieve data privacy by design.
Furthermore, users easily plug into the ecosystem with instantly created cryptographic wallets. Utilizing these customer crypto wallets, brands can easily tap into a whole new range of CDM/CDP/NFT use cases that facilitate more efficient transfer and distribution of value, richer user experiences, and smarter business development.
All of this in a trustless and compliant environment within their own application, by simply integrating the Cere SDK.
Martijn Broersma: The Cere SDK is designed in a way that implementing the SDK is as easy as implementing Google Analytics
By increasing data interoperability and data agily, we can adequately present data-driven use cases on how these enterprises increased their bottom line by using a Decentralized Data Cloud
Mary | Satoshi Club: Do you already have enterprises which are using your services?
Yes, for a while now. But given the transition we’re currently going through from testnet to mainnet (of which some community detectives have already found the onchain stats for.. ), these integrations needs to be fully deployed on production before we can start measuring and communicating the impact of these data driven enterprise usecases.
Mary | Satoshi Club: Community detectives😂
These enterprises dont directly interact with the Cere blockchain, for that being often too abstract, but they use services like Cere.io to interact with the chain for their operatoins
D. | Satoshi Club: interesting to know, if you have any competitors on crypto field in this direction?
Martijn Broersma:

Not in the way we do it with Cere. The foundational layer of the DDC with it’s data encryption and segmentation is something others havent been able to approach. Makes sense, because this has been our company’s deeptech thats been in development for 3 years.
Mary | Satoshi Club: Big responsibility to be the first
Q2 from Telegram user @Orlemys
Users being able to access a Decentralized Data Cloud is extremely necessary in times where major corporations (who own most of the internet) like Google and Facebook have shown that they do not care about users’ privacy. However, most crypto protocols are centralized until they renounce their ownership in the contract. This process sometimes takes months after launch, so how will Cere Network go about this? Is the platform decentralized since the beginning, or will it happen afterward? If so, how can we trust that our data will be safe? Please elaborate, thanks.
Martijn Broersma: Cere mainnet -which is currently being rolled out in a phased process towards decentralization- powers the Cere DDC platform, but that doesnt mean that user data on the DDC itself isnt already fully encrypted to the highest standards (and therefore well-protected).
Cere’s DDC platform is the “next-gen Snowflake”. It establishes a more secure first-party data foundation in the cloud by using blockchain identity and data encryption to onboard and segmenting individual consumer data.
Martijn Broersma:

A bit more on our encryption module can be read here, and is continuously assessed for possible improvements to adhere to enterprise-grade standards
D. | Satoshi Club: will you planning to run any additional ‘layers’ to provide more privacy for users?
Martijn Broersma: Yes, customers can put as many layers of desired privacy between the DDC and their own (end user) systems. That’s up to them to decide what they feel comfortable with, yet our DDC provides inherent cryptographic security by design already.
D. | Satoshi Club: nice! it’s always good to have a choice, in this case especially 😁
Mary | Satoshi Club: Super! Google is crying somewhere 😂
Q3 from Telegram User @DK177
You have allocated 4.9% from the total token supply for “grants”. Could you please explain what are those grants? Do you mean any donations to external institutions as a charity work? Or are these grants allocated for community members? If they are for the community, please explain the process of applying and the methods to increase the winning chances.
Martijn Broersma: These grants will mostely be granted to extended developer program (EDP) participants. For now, they are already receiving bounties for their participation, whereas we’ll roll out larger jobs (= grants) in the future to stimulate developers to build solutions on top of Cere Network.
For every developer out here, i’d strongly recommend you to check out the EDP and join our discord!
https://cere-network.medium.com/external-developer-program-update-ee26edef96e5
Martijn Broersma: These grants can also be granted to projects/companies building on top of Cere Network ofcourse, like parties who are integrating Cere Freeport (www.cere.network/freeport.html) already!
D. | Satoshi Club: thank you! what criterias projects should meet to receive a grants from Cere? can you explain briefly?
Martijn Broersma: We’ll communicate more on the upcoming grants and how to apply for them in the coming weeks. The grant program will be very similar to the Web3 Foundation grant program, which Cere received a grant from themselves.
D. | Satoshi Club: [ 👍 Sticker ]
Mary | Satoshi Club: Congratulations with Web3 grant👏
Q4 from Telegram user @iceVermithraxx
CERE is a polkadot inspired, next gen distributed network that consists of several modular inter connected layer; you mentioned Cere layer-1 core, Cere Layer-2, and the distributed ecosystem. Can you elaborate more on these modular inter connected layers? What are the Features of each modular interconnected layer? What are the effects of each of these layers to the CERE ecosystems?
Martijn Broersma: Cere Layer 1 is for security and smart contracts
Cere Layer 2 is for horizontal enterprise scalability data operations
Distributed ecosystem is the application layer that uses Layer 1 + Layer 2 to bring data & apps to (end) customers.
All layers are necessary to work in conjunction in order to streamline enterprise/NFT operations
Mary | Satoshi Club: If something will go wrong with one Layer system won’t work? It’s theoretically)
Martijn Broersma: Thats why we’ve went through hundreds of rounds of emulations/simulations in order to ensure that everything is running like a well-oiled machine. Its impossible to see from the outside how much work has been put in to develop this hollisitic ecosystem, but i can assure you our 30p dev(ops) teams have built something incredibly resillient and well tested over the past years, ready to be adopted by every consumer enterprise and NFT project
Mary | Satoshi Club: Awesome job 👍
Thank you for your answers! Ready for the next question?😀
Martijn Broersma: Lets do it!
Got to say, questions are 10/10 quality thus far 🙂
Q5 from Telegram User @MudaraSilva
Although I am familiar with staking, slashing is a new concept for me. You have indicated that it has been introduced to discourage validator misbehavior. What type of activities are considered misbehaviours? How do you track them? If any misconduct is reported, will the validator be prohibited from joining with Cere again? Is this your own concept or have you noticed any other platforms which have this feature called “slashing”?
Martijn Broersma: I’ll leave this up to the big boss VB to describe, since my technical knowledge of this concept doesnt go as far as making this into a concise story. Great tip for my content team to work on something more digestible!
https://medium.com/@VitalikButerin/minimal-slashing-conditions-20f0b500fc6c
D. | Satoshi Club: as far as i know, Cosmos is using ‘slashing’ too, i know because im a staker there 😄
Mary | Satoshi Club: Really? 😀
Martijn Broersma: Will definitely check out Cosmos slashing content!
D. | Satoshi Club: how many validators Cere Network will have? is there some limitation in this case?
Martijn Broersma: Thats dependent on the network activity – there’s many factors in place that determines that number and this is constantly monitored. Thus far we have 8 community/EDP mainnet validators on the network who are already raking in transaction fees! This number will gradually increase over time for EDP participants who have worked themselves up the leaderboard
Q6 from Telegram user @Asela1112
As You mentioned, The NFT marketplace of Cere Network will be directly integrated with Social media. But the Copy righting issues will rise because the Social media are open sources for any one. So how will be the ownership & Loyalty be working in NFT marketplace of Cere Network? What kind of drawbacks & Pros will it result by integrating social media in to your NFT marketplace? Can users make NFTs using the Social media contents within Cere Network NFT marketplace?
Martijn Broersma: Our decentralized data vault (www.cere.network/freeport) can protect the asset/IP behind the sneak preview from social media. This way both ownership, exclusivity as IP protection are being managed. The full process is in place, tested and demoable. If you are/know an NFT artist who wants to be amongst the first to dorp on our exclusive NFT experience platform, make sure to refer them to me to show the demo and discuss possiblities for our first sets of drops on the platforms. Its going to be a truly exceptional experience for both buyers and artists – unparalleled in the NFT space.
Mary | Satoshi Club: Is your marketplace live?
Martijn Broersma: Operational, but not live yet for the public.
Mary | Satoshi Club: When we can expect it to be launched?😀
D. | Satoshi Club: waiting for CerePunks 😉😄
Mary | Satoshi Club: Bored Ceres😂
Martijn Broersma: You’ll have to wait for the roadmap later this week to learn more about its release 😉
Mary | Satoshi Club: Oh, news soon?😉 Please, don’t forget to share with us!
D. | Satoshi Club: wow! nice, would be interesting to see, what you guys cooking 😊
Martijn Broersma: Its pretty hot in the kitchen 🔥
Part 2 — live questions from the Telegram community
Q1. from telegram username @MOONBOY
storing other people’s data is a big resposibility, and we have seen some big companies get hacked and data of their users got leaked, so what makes yours special, secure and trustworthy ??
Martijn Broersma: Please read back on the security question that has been posted earlier. Its extensively described!
Q2. from telegram username @hansoyeon
Could you tell us about the Cere Open Data Market (ODM) that Cere Network is planning to launch in the second quarter? Which data problems does Cere plan to solve with ODM and gain the advantage that will enable Cere ecosystem to be preferred?
Martijn Broersma: Great question! The ODM is the extension of the Cere DDC. Every business will have its own DDC, meaning that on the ODM they will be able to share data in a compliant and secure way between businesses, but also with data analysts/scientists who before couldnt be ‘trusted’ to handle their data. Via federated learning we can ensure data always stays with its owner!
Q3. from telegram username @pratze
it said we can save $CERE token inside CERE (Lockup) wallet, can you introduce what is the meaning from lockup ? is it not possible using “other” wallet ?
Martijn Broersma: Locked up tokens are tokens that will be distributed via the republic distribution/vesting smart contract once a set time has been reached. This will automatically happen in your wallet!
Q4. from telegram username @Nonerlike
@broersma
What plans do you have for marketing strategies where english is not spoken in many countries? Are there any thought of hiring amabassador programme for this by your project?
Martijn Broersma: Yes we’re ramping this up! Check out the cere announcement channel for the ambassador program opportunity/suggestion form to give your input!
Q5. from telegram username @barisbektas1
As I understand it, Cere Network is referred to as next generation distributed network inspired by Polkadot. So why did Cere choose Polkadot when it comes to providing a Decentralized Data Cloud (DDC) for businesses and consumers? Why did Cere not work with different blockchain networks for DDC, will it have a multi-chain structure as Cere develops and grows in the future?
Martijn Broersma: Polkadot’s interoperability will be key to the requirements that data-driven enterprises will have in the future. Have a look at our lite paper to learn more about our choice for Polkadot! https://cere.network/assets/pdf/Cere-Network-Lite-Paper.pdf
Q6. from telegram username @MdLuffyo
Will there be functionality that Cere Network provides to developers? Will Cere, through EDP, provide incentives to developers to create packages to expand as new applications and functionality on the Cere platform?
Martijn Broersma: Yes definitely! Did you check out the EDP already? There’s a lot happening on Discord to track. Would be great to see you there and hear about your experiences with the program!
Q7. from telegram username @Einsteinyl
I check that native token from your project is $CERE token, but what are all usecase or the function from $CERE token? What is the opportunity and benefit having $CERE token?
Martijn Broersma: Cere’s Decentralized Data Cloud (DDC) can be used to securely share data for businesses, developers, and token holders. “Your key, your data”: Cere provides the tools and solution to securely store, access, and use these data for all participants. Cere tokens provide security, utility, and incentives to this DDC.
The perfect use case for Cere is that NFT backed assets can be stored in Cere DDC, and made accessible only to the new owner as the NFT token is transfered (in one atomic transaction).
Q8. from telegram username @Emidm28
Traditional CRM’s currently face many limitations, they are outdated, expensive, hard to integrate with today’s AI and data-driven solutions. New data cloud solutions like Snowflake are disrupting these traditional CRM’s by offering much more flexibility and faster integrations. Similar to Snowflake, you are building tools to extract and virtualize enterprise data with near real-time event-sourcing into customized datasets for Machine Learning (ML), analytics, or partner integrations. So, since you have a similar approach, what are the competitive advantages of Cere over Snowflake?
Martijn Broersma: This is extensively described in our vision paper! Have a read here and let us know what you think! https://cere-network.medium.com/ethical-efficient-and-interoperable-data-for-enterprises-by-cere-network-505355680c8
Q9. from telegram username @Kazmi11
Do you have AUDIT certificates? Or Does your working to AUDIT your project, to make it more secure and reliable?
Martijn Broersma: We do! We have been working with cybersecurity firm Halborn on a series of audits. We’re currenlty finalizing the extensive overview post of these audits to be checked by our community!
Q10. from telegram username @Gen_Block
